A few more images from the summer:
This first photo is of a young wolf that we discovered one early morning, running beside the road. Such a stunning creature and always an honour to be in the presence of wolves.
The next image is of our favourite osprey family at Castle Junction, Alberta. We spent every hour we could spare observing this family and attempting to document their interactions, feedings and even the first flights of the fledglings.
This image of Banff National Park grizzly bear 142 was taken in action, as she ran to catch up to her temporary posse of bears 126 and 138. Such an amazing, fascinating encounter to see three unrelated grizzly bears interact, feed and play together for an entire day (and not during mating season). At one point, 138 and 142 had a light dust up, appearing to disagree about who deserved the extra attention from 126. Jill was able to capture the brief spat on video, and will share it soon.
And finally, this last image we like to think of as a sneak peak of the elk rut. We had to leave the Rockies at the end of August and saw this encounter on our last morning. Luckily we were able to return to the mountains in mid-September in order to find elk during the rut’s prime time.
Stay tuned for more!
