Welcome to Ghost Bear Photography!
Simon and I are so excited to launch this joint wildlife and nature landscape photography site that showcases the countless hours, days, months and years we’ve spent in the field in our attempt to help people fall in love with nature again.
It’s been quite the journey, being together as a team. We camp in a tiny tent for over two months of the summer and spend most of our days seeking out that one shot that will deem the day a success. It’s not at all an easy thing to do.
We are often contorted in some strange position, which looks vaguely like some of my yoga moves, come to think of it…
One day our feet might be stuck – along with out tripod legs – in the soft clay of an ice cold river bed at 5am in the (very chilly) morning attempting to capture the sun rising over the Grand Teton mountain range.
Another day we are awkwardly lunging with our left leg, but standing stock still for two hours trying to blend in with the scenery as an otter mom nurses her three pups.
But boy, by the end of our summer, that left leg is so muscular!
When we aren’t stuck in those contorted positions from five in the morning until ten in the evening, we are on the road heading to our next wild space on the agenda (or to get me coffee).
It’s really incredible to explore these urban wild spaces, and it provides us with a little retreat away from city living.
When we look back at our photos to select the best of the best, it’s outstanding to think of the number of hours it took to get each individual shot.
It’s not easy.
But it’s the most enjoyable hard work we both have ever experienced.
We hope you enjoy Ghost Bear Photography and that it brings an appreciation for nature and wildlife into your world.
